Setting up Your  English Notebook
Your English notebook must be a 3-ring looseleaf binder. It should be set up to include the following as separate sections:
    •
CLASSWORK (notes you take and assignments you complete in class.)
    •
VOCABULARY: (new words you come across in your reading, words we define in class, etc. Try to devote a page to each letter so you have an easy way to locate words once you’ve written them down and looked them up.)

Please be sure to keep everything I give you as well. I suggest a separate section for
HANDOUTS, or you can add them to the appropriate section as you receive them. That choice is yours. You must keep them though, as we will often refer to them after the day they are handed out.

Your notebook will be checked. Sometimes you will have advance warning that a notebook check is coming up; sometimes you will not. Your notebook grade will be part of your overall average for the class. This is an easy way to add points to your average, so don’t waste the opportunity.
